The Depot is on the Move!

Ladies and Gentlemen, the American Passenger Train History Museum, in conjunction with our public and private supporters are thrilled to announce tentative moving dates for the depot!

On Wednesday October 6th Thein Structural Moving plans on moving the depot from its current location to the north side of the railroad tracks near the intersection of 11th Avenue and D Street. Here the building will sit until Friday October 8th while preparations are made at the new depot site.

On Friday October 8th, the depot will cross the Canadian National Railway tracks and begin its journey down 11th Avenue. When it is in line with the new foundations, it will be parked for the weekend.

The final move will occur on Monday October 11th, when the building will be rolled from 11th Avenue onto the new foundations.

After arrival on the new site, the building will be adjusted to its final elevation and the foundation wall will be extended to meet the bottom of the depot, cementing it in its new permanent home.

These dates are pending final regulatory approval from the City Council and inclimate weather, the later being more of a concern than the former.

We hope to see many of you out as we celebrate this momentous occasion. Thanks to all the incredible support and donations from across the country, the Charles City Milwaukee Road depot has been saved.

WE DID IT!
